A zine of photographs taken at the Carnival of Basel between 11-13 March, 2019.
The annual Carnival of Basel is the largest carnival in Switzerland and is on UNESCO's "intangible cultural heritage" list. During the 72 hour parade, over 18,000 people dress up in a wide variety of costumes including a mask known as a Larve. Participants are fully concealed and must remain incognito while parading; it is considered inappropriate and a breach of protocol to identify oneself by removing the mask,
Perks And Mini (P.A.M.), a streetwear and lifestyle brand established in 2000 in Melbourne, Australia by Misha Hollenbach and Shauna Toohey. Sharing a background in fine art, fashion and graphic design, the couple meet on the streets and the name originates from their graffiti tags “Perks” and “Mini”.
Based in Paris since 2015, the multi-disciplinary clothing brand dabbles in everything from music, nightlife and design. They have also made small books and zines since the early 2000's, putting out their own photos and also collaborating with street artists and fashion photographers.
